Thanks, Bryan - I think you and I have seen (and conducted!) enough research on smart speakers to know that the ones with screens do better than the ones without, at least in terms of discovery and user satisfaction. I think Discord has it nailed--it's a multi-sensory experience where one person can be talking while hundreds of people can be having a conversation about what the speaker is saying. It feels better. It has metadata. My son and I hop on every week.
The other thing is just what you smartly hit on--moderators. There are some GREAT moderators. Abraxas who moderates the recurring "Clubhouse for Beginners" room is tremendous and welcoming. THe key is to find the great moderators and follow them--and they aren't the same people who have big platforms OFF of Clubhouse. They need to highlight and model great moderator behavior.
